Streets have gotten a really bad rap, and for some very unscientific and irrational reasons. They have been dismissed as a planning tool so that in most cities it is actually illegal to project new streets. Today, there is not a single city in the United States that has a street plan as its planning foundation. We think streets are a bad thing, but in fact they can be good for us and for cities. How did this perceived malice grow and how can we overcome it as we plan and rebuild our cities in the 21st century? Watch this video of my recent talk at TEDx Peachtree – Street Legal.
